The new home of Milton Mayor Joe Lockwood will be next year’s showcase home of the Roswell Woman’s Club.

It’s that time of year again. The Roswell Woman’s Club Showcase Home is once again on the horizon. The designers’ luncheon was held last week inside the massive garage of the home to be featured.
Every year, the Roswell Woman’s Club hosts their showcase home to the public. Local interior designers decorate individual rooms in the unfinished house (or series of houses) that the Club then sells tickets to the public to view before the house’s occupants move in. A portion of the proceeds goes toward a local charity. This year, the house belongs to Milton’s mayor Joe Lockwood.
“We got asked and for a couple reasons [we accepted]. It’s for a good cause and it motivated us to get it done,” said Lockwood. “I was supposed to build it 15 years ago. It was supposed to be six months to a year. So it’s been a long work in progress.”
The Lockwoods live on a 30-acre horse farm in Milton, in a 100-year-old farmhouse. The new 10,000 square foot home is being built on a hill behind the current one. With a seven car garage, tennis courts and swimming pool, the house is definitely worth the 15 year wait.
The house is being built by the Capstone Building Group, a Milton-based company, and is expected to be completed early next year.
