1951: Frank Sinatra and Ava Gardner were married. She filed for divorce in 1954.
1965: The soap opera “Days of Our Lives” premiered on NBC.
1968: The single “For Once In My Life” by Stevie Wonder was released.
1972: James Taylor and Carly Simon got married at Taylor's New York apartment. They announced their marriage that night at Taylor's concert at Radio City Music Hall.
1975: “Good Morning America” premiered on ABC, with hosts David Hartman and Nancy Dussault.
1984: Prince launched his Purple Rain tour in Detroit.
1986: Country singer Tammy Wynette checked in to the Betty Ford Clinic for addiction to painkillers.
1999: Country singer Lee Ann Womack married longtime boyfriend Frank Liddell in a private ceremony.
2003: Singer Bobby Hatfield of The Righteous Brothers was found dead in a hotel room in Kalamazoo, Michigan, just 45 minutes before the group was to perform. Hatfield was 63.
2006: Rod Stewart's divorce from Rachel Hunter was finalized, seven years after they separated. He had proposed to model Penny Lancaster during that time and had a baby with her.
2006: Britney Spears filed for divorce from Kevin Federline. They had been married for just over two years, and she had given birth to their second son just two months earlier.
